By means of short connecting portions 22, a ribbon securing member 23 is mounted on the connecting bar 14 over the hooks 18, 19, the same being preferably formed in one with the bar 14, and hence would be composed of superior sheet metal which is nonoxidizable. Within the members 14:, 22, '23 a slot 24 is provided.

When the fastening device is to be used asfor supporting a brassiere, two shoulder straps of narrow ,ribbon25 are provided. One end of the ribbon is sewed against the body thereof at 26 so as to provide a loop 27, the end of the ribbon being first passed through the slot 24 of the fastener, and the loop 27 then formed by stitching the ribbon at 26.. Each ribbon is preferably of the narrow type usually employed for such purposes,

as the whole fastening is of a comparatively short length transversely of the ribbon. As shown in Fig. l, the ends of the ribbon would preferably be provided with two fastening devices 28, 29 such as described.

In applying the ribbon 25 and the improved fastening toa garment having loops 11, the

loops are passedthrough the narrow gaps 21 and into the eyes formed by thehooks 18, 19, and the adjoining L so that when the garment is being worn the loops will. neatly and snugly pass through the eyes of the hooks without rumpling, as:

It is clear from the drawings and from the description that the invention herein is' inherent in fastening devices which are quite small and which are comparable in size with articlesof jewelry. The size of each fastener is such as to occupy but an extremely small space relatively -to the body of the wearer when in use, and each fastener is so constructed as to lie unobtrusively against the body of the wearer, so that when in use the fasteners are practically unnoticeable, and if notice- Many advantages of the present invention will occur to those in the lingerie business and to users, and it is obvious that the fastener may beforme'd and ornamented in any 1112111 ner which would make it more desirable to be worn. It is clear that by the improved fastener the attached edge of the garment will be held neatly more or'less at a right angle to the line of theshoulder ribbon 25, and that altogether the combination may be rendered quite attractive. i

It is obvious that the invention is susceptible of more or less modification, as will be clear to those skilled in the art, without departing from the spirit, and scope of the invention asdefined in the appended claims.

What I claim as new is: t 1. A lingerie fastener, comprising a pair of hooks connected together side by side, and each in the form of a substantially closed eye, the extremity of each book being'directed into the eye iand locatedsufiiciently closerto the adjacent portion of the fastener to provide a throat which isgreatly contracted relatively to the width of the opening of the eye, across from the extremity of'thehook, whereby the threading of a garment loop through the throatfor engaging it in the eye is permitted with difficulty, and the accidental disengagement of the loopfromthe eye is precluded.

2. A lingerie fastener, comprising a con-' necting member and a pair of hooks each extending outwardly from each other and then extending inwardly in the form ofan eye, and
