7 My invention relates to improvements in devices for use in connection with duplex shade rollers.

In many buildings, such as schools, drafting rooms, etc, it is considered an essential to provide two shade rollers at each window and to mount them at a point midway of the he1ght' of'the window opening; this in order that light andair may be admitted from the top of the Window Without interference.

VVhen the shade rollers are mounted in this manner, it inevitably results in an open space'between the adjacent rollers through i which light is admitted, and this has been overcome in devices heretofore proposed by mounting ashield at such a point that the space between the'rollers is closed. However, in each of the devices suggested, theshield has I. been .mounted on'the outside of the rollers,

that is, adjacent to the window sash. While this accomplishes one result, it exposes the shade rollers and presents difiiculties in the mounting, adjustment and operation of the rollers.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide a simple device of the character described and to so arrange the device that it will conceal the shade rollers and at the same I in section;

time exclude light as required. By forming the shield with a curved cross section and by suitably decorating the exterior of the shield,

it may be caused to harmonize and add to the attractiveness of the room.

The invention willv be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, in which;

' brackets comprise a body, 10 and a rear rightangular flange, 11. Both the body and the flange llare provided with screw openings in order that the bracket may be secured either to the outer or inner face of the frame as desired. The bodyof' the bracket is provided with shade roller sockets, 12, 13 having suitably shaped apertures to accommodate the round and square ends respectively of the shade rollers.

' Formed as an extension of the socket-member 13 is a toe or abutment 14 that acts as a bottom stop for the shield. The body 10 of the bracket has inturned tongues 15, 16 offset or staggered as to each other, the space separating the two tongues or ears corresponding substantially to the thickness of the shield element 17. This shield is of generally arcuate form in cross section, and may consist of a thin sheet of metal. The lower edge rests on the toe 14: and the shield is adapted to be positioned by a downwardly sliding movement into the location shown in Fig. 2. For convenience, the shield may be manufactured and sold in long strips and cut to the required length by the dealer.

By locating the shield as shown, the fundamental purpose of excluding light from between the shade rollers is accomplished, and, in addition, the shade rollers, indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2, are hidden or covered when viewed from the interior of the room. The shield may be painted or calcimined as desired and will not be unsightly. The device is of extreme simplicity and adapts itself to easy installation, removal and replacement.

Modifications may be made in the construction shown Without departure from the spirit of my invention, and I do not wish to be limited except as indicated in the appended claims.
