MILO W. LUCAS, OF SHERBURN, MINNESOTA.
EVENER.
Application filed April 30, 1927. Serial No. 187,949.
The present invention relates to an evener and has for its principal object to provide an evener bar of channel formation for housing pulleys therein over which may be trained cables associated with single trees.
Another important object of the invention lies in the provision of a clamp bracket in combination, with an evener bar, whereby the clamp bracket may be shifted to different desired positions thereon.
Another important object of the invention lies in the provision of eilicient bracing means between the clamp bracket and the evener bar.
A still further very important object of the invention resides in the provision of an evener structure which is simple, strong and durable, thoroughly ei'ficient and reliable in use, and otherwise well adapted for the purpose for which it is designed.
\Vith the above and numerous other objects in view, as will appear as the descrip tion proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the evener body showing the features of my invention.
Figures 2 and are sectional views taken respectively on the lines 2-2 and 33 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an elongated evener bar of channel forma tion, same being Ushaped in cross section. The upper and lower sides of this evener bar are provided with longitudinally extending ribs 6 and 7, the former adjacent the bight, and the latter adjacent the longitudinal edges. A clamp bracket is denoted generally by the letter P and comprises a pair of plates 8, held together by bolts 9, pins 10, and 11. The adjacent surfaces of these plates adjacent one end have channels to receive the ribs 6 and 7. An eye 12 is formed at one end of the evener bar 5 and an apertured car 18 is formed at the other end thereof and has an eye bolt 14 extended therethrough and held in engagement therewith by a ti htening nut 15. A cable 16 en gaged with the eye bolt 15 and is trained between the plates 8 and between the bolts 10 to engage with the eye 12. Obviously, this brake cable 16 may be tightened by pulling up on the nut 15. It will be alsoobvious that the clamp B may be shifted on the bar 5, to be located in the desired position thereon. A pair of spaced pulleys 20 are journaled at each end of the bar 5, interiorly thereof. A pair of pulleys 21 are journaled in the bar 5 intermediate the ends thereof. Channeled singletrees 23 and 2424 have centrally located pulleys 25. A continuous cable 26 is trained over the pulley 25 of the single tree 23 and then is trained over the pulleys 21 and then over one of the pulleys 20 at each end and then over the pulleys 25 of the end single tree 2st and then over the other pulleys 20.
It is thought that the construction, adj ustment, utility and advantages of this structure will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art, without a more detailed description thereof. The present embodi-- merit of the invention has been disclosed in detail, merely by way of example, since in actual practice, it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit or scope of theinvention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
A device of the class described con'iprising an elongated evencr bar of channel formaion, constructed to be U-sl'iapedin cross section. longiturlinal'iy extending external ribs formed on the bar, a clamp structure comprising a pair of plates, bolts engaged with the plates, said plates having grooves to re ceive the ribs, a cable attached at one end of the evener bar, trained through two of the bolts holding the plates of the clamp together, and adjustable means at the other end of the evener bar for engaging the cable, and a plurality of pulleys mounted in the evencr bar, a plurality of single trees, pulleys mounted in the single trees, and l a cable trained over said pulleys, each single tree being of channel formation and having its pulley journaled interiorly thereof.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
MILO W. LUCAS.
