UNITED STATES OTH'C. ANDERSON, 0F WEST NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
- TRUCK FRAME.
Application led October 17, 1924. Serial No. 744,246.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, O'rrro C. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at West Nashville, in the county of Davidson and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in Truck Frames, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to car trucks and contemplates a structure by means of which the bolster or springs can be conveniently and quickly removed for the purpose of repair as the occasion may require, the inven tion residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
L5 In the drawings forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views,l and wherein:
Figure 1 isa view in elevation of the car truck constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 10 represents an arched shaped bar upon which the frame 11 of the truck reposes, the frame being of the ordinary well known construction, and including the U-shaped portion for the reception of the bolster 12. The bolster is supported by the usual springs 13, the springs resting on a plate 14 which is seated on the lower end of the U-shaped portion 15 of the frame as shown in Figure 1. Prior to the arrangement of the parts in the manner just described, angle iron bars'16 are arranged in the U-shaped portions, and riveted or otherwise suitably secured thereto as at 17. A wear plate 18 is also arranged between the upper ends of the springs 13 40 and the bolster 12 as shown in Figure 2.
Now, the open end of the U-shaped portion 15 is closed by a bridge bar 19 which has its ends reposing on shoulders 20 formed on Vthe frame, the bridge bar being secured yto said frame by means of bolts or other fastening elements'21. By reason of this construction, the parts can be easily removed from the frame for repair, or for any other purpose, with a consequent saving of timey and labor. Instead of initially jacking up the y ing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, l desire to have it understoody that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
Having thus described the invention, I claim: p
A car truck frame having a U-shaped portion open at its upper end and adapted to receive the bolster and supporting spring therefore, angle iron bars arranged in the U-shaped portion beneath and parallel with said bolster, a wear yplate interposed between the upper end of the springs and said y bolster, a wear plate interposed between the lower end of the springs and said angle bars, a bridge bar closing the upper end of the U-shaped portion of the frame and lying substantially flush with the upper surface thereof, and bolts passed through said bar and frame, whereby the former is detachably connected to the frame as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature. OTI-IO C. ANDERSON,
