MARY V. KELLER, 0F lTI-IRICHSVILLE, OHIO.
IRONING- APPLIANCE.
Application filed November 16, 1921.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY V. KELLER, a resident of Uhrichsville, in the county of Tuscarawas and State of Ohio, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing Appliances, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in ironing appliances, and the main object is th provision of a device which may be placed in a cabinet to make it easily portable, or which may be attached to a door, wall or other structure forming a support, as circumstances dictate.
Another object of my invention is the provision of an appliance which can be readily and quickly placed in position for use, and as easily returned to normal position, and which will provide a complete and perfect ironing board.
Another object of my invention is the provision of an ironing appliance which will be of extremely simple, durable and inexpensive construction, which will occupy a very small space and which generally speaking will be thoroughly efficient and practical.
With these objects in view, my invention consists of an ironing appliance embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as shown, de scribed and claimed herein, a more complete understanding of the invention being acquired from the accompanying drawing,
in which:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the complete ironing appliance disposed in a cabinet with the parts in the position they occupy when the device is ready for use.
Fig. 2 represents a vertical central sectional view thereof with the parts in closed or unused position.
Fig. 3 represents a front elevation of the appliance in closed position, and
Fig. 4 represents a detail perspective view v of a part of the appliance shown on an en larged scale to more clearly illustrate such detail.
Referring by numeral to the drawings in Serial No. 515,513.
pliance may be attached to any supporting structure which will serve the purpose.
To the cabinet or support is secured the upper bracket member 3, formed with a pair of arms or extensions 4, and suitably spaced from said bracket member and also secured to the cabinet or support is the lower bracket member 5, formed with arms or extensions 6 which are somewhat longer than the arms or extensions 4, and pivoted at their lower ends 7 to said extensions 6, are the pair of links 8, whose upper ends are pivoted at 9 to the pair of ears 10 depending from the ironing board 11, said ironing board having pivotally mounted near its inner end a pair of guiding sleeves 12, which move upon the pair of guiding rods 13, secured to the extensions 4 and 6, of the bracket members 3 and 5.
This construction provides a swinging connection between the ironing board and the bracket members and allows the board to be swung in to the position shown in Fig. 2 when the appliance is out of service, or to the position shown in Fig. 1 when the ironing board is ready for use, the spring latch 14 acting to retain the board in proper position in connection with the other parts of the appliance.
- From an inspection of the drawing taken in connection with the description the manner of using the appliance will be instantly apparent and further comment is deemed unnecessary and it will be appreciated that the appliance can be placed in a cabinet or attached to the wall or other supporting structure; it will provide an efficient and practical ironing board at the proper price; and in every particular will prove useful and desirable.
I claim:
An ironing appliance, consisting of a support, an upper bracket member formed with arms, a lower bracket member formed with arms of greater length than the arms of the upper bracket member, an ironing board, links connecting the arms of the lower 5 bracket with said ironing board, sleeves pivotally secured near the inner end of said ironing board, guide rods upon which said sleeves are mounted, said guide rods being secured to the arms of the upper and lower brackets, and a latch carried b the support 10 and engaging the inner end 0 said ironing board. r
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
MARY v. KELLER.
