1,463,695 A. H. BORRESEN ET AL WATER SUPPLYING DEVICE FOR PULP SCREENING MACHINES Filed March 25. 1922 VPatented Sept. 25, i923..
till@ STATES ADOLF HOFF BRRESEN, OF MJ'ONDALEN, AND KRISTIAN HOLTER, OF SKOIEN, NEAR CHRISTANIA, NORWAY.
WATER-SUPPLYING DEVICE FOB.- PULP-SGREENING MACHINES.
Application led March 25, 1922.
T 0 all whom it may concern.' n
Be it known that we, ADOLF Horn BRRE- SEN and KnrsTrAN Homan, both subjects of the King of Norway, residing at Mjondalen and Sloiemnear Christiania, respectively, in the Kingdom of Norway, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Water- Supplying' Devices for Pulp-Screening Machines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The usual water supply devices for pulp screening machines have a number of disadvantages arising from the fact that the water is directed against the screening surface under a. certain angle andthereforein the first place does not exert the best possible forward driving action on the pulp and secondly is liable to press the coarse stuff through the screening surface.
These drawbacks are avoided in accordance with the present invention by supplying the water through a longitudinal slot located substantially in the screening plane and'directing the current of water along the screening surface in the direction of movement of the pulp.
The water is thus according to the present invention supplied below the layer of pulp instead of being supplied from above,.as is the case in the known devices and hereby is brought to exert the best possible feeding and diluting effect Von the pulp, while at the same time no pressing action is caused against the screening surface.
On the drawing is illustrated a form of the invention by inea-nsV of a longitudinal vertical section.
Serial No. 546,910.
l-indicates the screening surface below which there is placed pulsating members 2, etc. in the ordinary7 manner. The pulp is moved in the direction indicated by the arrow, and water is supplied -from the transversely arranged horizontal tube l through narrow horizontal slot 5 extending across the whole breadth of the screen and acting to direct a narrow film of water along the screen in the direction of movement of the pulp.
' Claims:
l. In a water supplying device for pulp screening machines a horizontal supplying tube extending transversely across the screening surface. immediately below the level 'of the same and a jet mouth piece thereon extending in the form of' a horizontal slot substantially across the whole breadth of the screening surface and immediately above the level of the screening surface, said slot shaped jet mouth piecev being adapted to spray a thin film of water along the screening` surface below the pulp and in the direction of movement of the saine.
2. The method for supplying water to pulp screens which consists in sprayinga thin film of water on the screen below the pulp and in the direction of movement of the pulp.
3. A water supplying device for pulp machines comprising a horizontal screen; and means for spraying a thin iilln of' water on said screen below the pulp in a horizontal direction.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our invention, we have signed our names in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
