Be it known that I, HEN Y M. VAN Dnu' a citizen of the United States, residing at VVestfield, in the county of Hampdcn and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame. I I
This invention relates to an improvement in mop holders. p
The object of the present invention is to provide a mop of an improved and simplified form with a View of securing improved efficiency and economy in manufacture and simplicity in operation.
The invention consists in the novel construction, arrangementand combination of parts as hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.
' throughout.
Figure 1 is a plan elevation of a mop holder involving the present invention;
.Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 22 of Figure 1;
sectional view.
In accordance with the present invention a handle 6 is provided with a transverse head member A which is preferably formed of two parts of sheetnietal stamped to provide complementary portions adapted to provide a socket to receive the end of the handle, and a transverse notch 1 with lateral guide members 2 adjacent each end.
A piece of heavy wire or suitable metal rod isbent into substantially rectangular form, having a front member 4- adapted to press into notch 1 of the head A and side members 3 adapted to slide between guide members 2 of head A; the ends of the rod 1922. Serial No. 564,771.
being bent inward and backward as at 7 and passed through suitable apertures 10 in aslide runner or clamping member 11. This clamping member; 11 is formed of sheet metal bent cylindrically to surround the handle 6 and provided with spaced and substantially parallel flanges 12, which are provided with holes 10 to receive the ends of the metal rod and which are adapted to be bent, as at 8, passed through holes 10 and bent upwardly,. as at 9, to secure the ends to. the clamping member 11. The flanges 12 of the clamping member are adapted to be tightened together by means of a bolt 13 provided with a wing nut 14: to secure it in any desired position upon the handle 6.
The operation of the device is obvious, the mop or cloth being placed between thehead A and the front portion 4 of the rod memher which is tightened upon the mop by 1 means of the clamping member 11 and adapted to be fastened in upon the handle 6.
Modifications in the precise construction and arrangement of parts will readily suggest themselves tothose. skilled in the art proper position and be fully within the scope of the present invention.
Having described my invention what I I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent Figure 3 is a fragmentary longitudinal In a mop holder having a handle and a transverse head member with lateral guides, a mop engaging device comprising a light rod bent into substantially rectangular form having its sides slidably engaged with the lateral guides of the head member and its HENRY M.
