APPLICATION FILED FEB. 1, |919.
.(P." far);
IIVVENTOH UNITED STATES CLARENCE BASCOME, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
WAIST-LINE GARMITNT SUPPORE Application filed February 7, 1919.
To QU whom t may concern Be it known that I, CLARENCE BascoMn, a citizen of the United States oi America, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and Sta-te of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in 1Waist- Line Garment-Supports, of which the following is a. speciiication.
The purpose ot the invention is to provide an article of the above mentioned character, which, ii used by men, will serve the double purpose of keeping the shirt down and supporting the pants and ir" used by women will likewise serve to support the skirts while holding the shirt waist down. To this end the invention comprises a belt for encircling the body at the waist line, the belt carrying suitable garment supporting members thereon, and being carried in relatively wide loops sewed to the shirt, the garment supporting members standing between adjacent loops.
ln the accompanying drawings;
Figure 1 is an elevational view showingthe manner of use ot the invention, part of the View being broken away in the vicinity of one of the garment supports.
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Figi. 1.
per se.
Fig. el. is a plan view oi a. supplementary belt tor attachment to the shirt.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view ot a clasp t'orniing. part of the garment supporting members,
Referring to the drawings, theinvention is shown as comprising a belt 1 which may be any suitable form of belt. This belt is carried within the relatively wide loops 2 oi" the supplemental belt 3, this belt being secured at its marginal edges tothe shirt 4 at the waist line. Carried on the belt 17 there are the metallic bands 5, these bands encircling the belt 1 and standing between adjacent loops 2. The metallic bands 5 are formed with rectangular shaped eyes 6 through which may pass the spring clasp members is a perspective view of the belt Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented une 28, 1921.
Serial No. 275,619.
7, the latter being formed with laterally extending tongues 8 embracing the side edges of the bands and lying between the back race of the band and the outside face of the belt 1. The clasp members 7 are engaged by the eyes 9 attached to the pants 10 on the inside thereof.
In the use of the invention it is thought that the mest convenient arrangement will provide vfor six garment supporting members, as shown, two being in the rear of the lloelt 1, two on the right side and two on the ett.
W7 hen the invention is used for ladies garments, the garment supporting members be iXedly attached to the belt 1 and not made movable as is the case with the bands shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings.
From the foregoing description and the accompanying drawing it is believed that a clear enough understanding of the invention is to be had to render further description unnecessarv The i vention having been described, what is claimed as new and useful is:
1. A garment support comprising a waist encircling member, bands embracing said member and formed with rectangular eyes therein, and clasps projecting through the eyes and formed with tongues lying between the bands and the outer face of the waist encircling member the tongues embracing the side edges oi the bands.
2. A garment supporting article having in combination a supplemental waist encircling member for attachment to a body garment, loops carried by the said supplemental waist encircling member, a main waistencircling member passing through the loops, garment supports carried by the main waist encircling member and positioned between adjacent loops, and members for attachment to nether garments and detachably engaged with said garment supporting members.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
CLARENCE BASCOME.
