Application filed June 23, 1920. Serial No. 391,219.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL RABUSHKA, a citizen of Russia, residing at 1109 North Fourteenth street, St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heels, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to fabricate a hollow shoe heel so as to supply eflicient and simple means for securing the tread. A more specific object is to provide means of securing the tread by means of an assembly plate by the additional use of screws and nails.
lVith the above and other objects in view my invention has relation to certain novel features of construction and operation examples of which are described in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure l is a longitudinal, sectional elevation of my device, and
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the assembly plate and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the securing rivet.
Numeral 4 designates the hollow heel proper and 5 the shoe securing means.
Numeral 6 designates a cavity in the lower part of the heel proper 4, and numeral 7 a rivet head cavity formed in the cavity 6 as shown in Fig. 1. In the roof of the cavity 6 are also formed screw seats 8.
Numeral 9 designates the assembly plate which may be secured to the roof of the cavity 6 by means of the screws 10 through the holes 11 in the assembly plate 9. The rivet 12 is positioned as shown in Fig. 1 with its head in the head cavity 7 and its ends passing through the hole 13 in the assembly plate 9 and the lift 14 and having its lower bifurcated ends bent over so as to secure the lift 14 to the assembly plate 9 which in turn has been secured to the roof ofthe cavity 6 by means of the screws 10.
Numeral 15 designates the tread which is secured to the lift 14 by means of the nails 16.
lVhat I claim and mean to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A heel having a recess in its lower extremity provided in its upper surface with a rivet head receiving cavity, an assembly plate having an opening, secured to the upper surface, a bifurcated rivet passing through said opening and having its head held in said cavity by said plate, a lift secured in said recess by said rivet and a tread member secured to said lift.
2. heel having a'recess in its lower extremity, provided in its upper surface with a rlvet head receiving cavity and assembly plate have an opening and a bifurcated rivet, the shaft of said rivet passing through the opening in said assembly plate, the head of said rlvet positioned in the cavity in the recess of said heel, screws securing said assembly plate and rivet to the upper surface of the recess of said heel, a lift, said lift positioned in the recess of said heel and having an opening therein through WhlLl'l the shaft of said bifurcated rivet passes, the external ends of said bifurcated rivet being bent so as to form a smooth surface between them and said lift, and to secure said lift to said assembly plate, a tread, and nails, said tread secured to said lift and said heel by means of said nails.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
