SWIMMING DEVICE.
Application filed October 1,
Be it known that I, OTTO GRUNDMANN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hud son and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Swimming Devices, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to Swimming devices and has for its object to provide an improvement of the construction described and shown in my U. S. Patent #1340592, dated May 25th, 1920.
The invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and defined in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawing in'which similar reference characters denote corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my device showing its attachment to a shoe; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of thedevice; Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a front view of a detail; and Fig. l is a perspective view of a somewhat modified form of thedevice.
My device is adapted to be used principally in connection with a shoe such as originally used for bathing but may with slight modifications be made applicable to the hands. 7
When used in connection with shoes, the latter, as will be hereinafter described, are. equipped with means for the attachment of the device.
The device proper, of whichoneis used for each foot, consists of a paddle shaped rigid blade a which is so dimensioned that it will, when applied tothe foot of the swim- V Specification of Letters Patent.

one on each side of the-mouth or recess a.
The members are suitably fixed to the plate a and have each a cross opening or eye 7).- A screw bolt 0 formed with a rigid disk shaped base 0 is adapted to be fixed to each side of the shoe 8 belowthe ankle. The base -may be perforated as at, 0 to permit its attachment to the shoe by stitches or otherwise. The screw bolts 0 when applied to the shoe, will projectlaterally and are adapted to pass through-the-openings or eyelets I) of the shoe in a similarmanner to the bolts 0V and which are adapted to pass through either one of aseries of openings a provided in the front part of the blade. r
The modified blade '6 shown in Fig. 4 is identical in construction with that l shown in Fig. 2, except that the mouth or recess 6 is elongated to permit the blade to be applied to the foot in a somewhat inclined posiper part of the shoe. r
7 What I claim and desire to secure-by Letters Patent is: I r
; tion either parallel to or bearing on the up of the swimmer, rigid members projecting downwardly from said blade and means adapted to be fixed to a shoe and toengage said members seats to hold the said blade in 7 position.
2. A, swimming device comprising a re-' cessed rigid blade adapted to engage around the lower part of the leg of the swimmer,
wardly from said blade, and means adapted to be fixed to a shoe so as to 'passrthrough. theperforations of said members for hold-' .ing said blade in position.
