I MATCH-BOX CONTAINER. 7
V Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dem 1920.
Application filed December 17; 1919. Serial No 345,471.
T 0 all whom it may 001i ce'm:
Be it known that I, FRANK B. RIN ER, a citizen of the United States, residin at Detroit, county of lVayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Match-Box Containers, and declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference from which the container is formed.
an enlarged flanged compartment at one side thereof.
This container is formed so as to comprise two compartments, the larger compartment 6 adapted to receive a match box, and retain the same in position therein, one end of the said compartment being open, the other partially closed by having ears 0,
c 0 which are formed integral with the metal blank a, folded over so as to partially seal the end of said container.
The outer side walls of the container, at the marginal edge of the match box proper, are slightly crimped in as at d so as to retain said box in place, the continuation of said walls flaring outwardly as at 6, Fig. 1, so as to form a compartment adapted to retain a longitudinally movable drawer f intended to serve as an ash tray. By virtue of the flaring sides of the drawer f and the coiiperating, abutting, flaring walls 6 of the compartment, the .drawer adapted for moycmentlongitudinally within said come partment in its superimposed relationship over the match box. i
The drawer f is formed with a supporting end standard 9, the downward extremity of which is bent inwardly so as to grip .ghe dlrawer of, the matchbox, as shown in It; will be observed that the end closure formed by the ears 0, 0 and 0 seals only a portion of "this end of the container. It is, therefore, possible to slide the match box drawer from within the outer covering of the match box endwise of the container, this movement carrying with it the drawer f, because of the downwardlyprojecting end portion g.
The upper face of the compartment 6 adapted to receive the drawer, is beveled so as to support a cigarette in the manner shown in Fig. 1. This face is likewise perforated as at it so as to admit the end of a cigar which can be clipped by a knife '5 disposed horizontally of the drawer, adjacent the inner surface of the beveled surface of the compartment, and which normally closes perforation h in said compartment.
Opposite the drawer compartment the edges of the metal blank a as it infolds the match box are spaced apart so as to expose the abrasive sides of the box as at What I claim is:
1. In a match box container comprising two compartments, one compartment adapted to receive a match box, the other compartment adapted to receive a drawer, an-
partment adapted to receive a drawer, saiddrawer compartment provided with a concave side adjacent the open side of the drawer, a drawer adapted to be received in said drawer compartment.
3. A match box container comprising two compartments, one compartment adapted to receive a match box, the other compartment adapted toreceive adrawer fitted for slidtwo compartments, one compartment adapted to receive a match box, the other compartment adapted to receive a drawer fitted for longitudinal movement therein, said drawer compartment provided with a perforation, a drawer adaptedto be received in said compartment, a horizontal cutting knife across the open face of said drawer adapted to normally close said perforation in the face of said drawer compartment and to abut the inner surface of said drawer. compartment face.
5. In a match boa container comprising i two compartments, one compartment adapted to receive a match box, the other compartment adapted to receive a drawer fitted for slidable movement therein, the outer walls of said drawer compartment flaring outwardly from a crimped-in ledge at the marginal edge of said match box compartment, a drawer adapted for slidable movement in said drawer compartment, a supporting standard carried'by one end of said" drawer adaptedto support thesame when the drawer is partly withdrawn, a cutting knife carried bysaid drawer, said drawer compartment provided with a concave face, an opening in said concave face adapted to receive the end of a cigar. u e
In testimony whereof Isign this specification.
0 FRANK B. RINKER.
