This invention relates to new and useful improvements in arch supporters and the principal object? of the invention is to make the device adjustable by simply turning a tlnunb screw.
Another-object. of the invention is to provide the devicewith a base plate to which the arch plate is connected at one end by a rivet and by a'movable connection at, its other end.
Another object of the invention to provide. a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and ctlicient in operation and one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimu' cost.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and -i n the combination and arrangement of the seven 1 parts, to b" hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanyint, drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reterenco will be had to the accompanying (lrawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout. the severa] views, and in which 2- Figure l. is a longitudinal section of the device.
Fig. .2 is bottom view of the device.
Fig. 3 is a top view. Fig. 4 is a section on line 4-4 of Fig. 3. As shown in these views the device is composed of a base plate 1 to which the arch plate 2, which maybe of any desired form, is connected at one end by the rivet 3 and at its other end by the rivets 4 engaging the slots 5 formed in said arch plate. 6 indieates thumb wheel pivoted to the upper Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 29, 1918, Serial No. 231,487.
face of the plate 1 and provided with a screw threaded shank 7 -8 indicates a screw threaded socket carried by a plate 9 -\\'liltil is riveted to the arch plate and said socket receives the. screw threaded shank 7 so that the arch of the plate 2 may be adjustedin relation to the plate 1 by means of said thumb wheel 6.
It will be understood that the slots 5 will allow movement of one end of the arch plate on the plate 1 to permit this adjustment. be made to conform to the instep and it may be provided with the slots 10 in one side to make this side flexible. The upper face ot As before stated the arch plate may the arch plate is covered with a piece ot leather or the like 11 which projects be yond the edges of said plate as clearly shown make such changes inthe construction and in the combination and arrangement: of the.
several parts, provided that such ehanges fatl'within the scope of the appended claims. What I claim is v 1. A device of the class described e mprising a base plate, an arch plate no val ly connected therewith, a screw threadedsocl'c'ct connected with the under face of said arch plate and a thumb wheel between said plates and carried by said bases plate and "having; a.
screw threaded shank engaging with said socket.
2. A device of the class described comprising a. base plate, an arch plate riveted atone end to the end of the base plate and having slots at the other end, rivets engaging-said slots and carried by the base plate, a screw threaded socket connected with the bottom face of said arch plate and a thumb wheel carried by the base plate and having a screw threaded shank engaging said socket. In testimony whereof I atfix my signature.
