Be it known that I, HENRY R. Hu'BEnIoH,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, county of Cuyahoga, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Lamp- Fi'xtures, of which the following is a specification. c

My invention relates to electic lamp firttures and more particularly to fixtures of this character which are provided with means for adjusting the light source to various positions and which are especially serviceable for reading, shaving and other operations requiring an-adjustable lamp. I

The upper and lower curved portions 13 and 14 respectively of the standard are slotted substantially throughout, as shown at 15 and 16 respectively. The slot 15 permits of the adjustment of a lamp 17'carried in socket 18, .and, if' desired, a reflector 19 The slot 16 permits the standard to be ad-F' justed with respect to the basal 0.

The attachment-of the standard 12 to the base 10 is, as shown, substantially the same 7 as that of the lamp socket 18 to the standard 12,'e xcept that in the former case the attachment 20 is so disposed that the member 12 is movable relatively thereto, whereas in j the latter case the attachment 21 is so disposed that itis movablewith respect to the standard 12; Inasmuch as the clamping portions of these "parts are substantially the same, the attachment 21 only is illustrated and is shown in Fig.3; The lamp socket 18 has at the bottom thereof an internally threaded sleeve 22 in which engages an ex ternally threaded tubular bolt 23, thus providing 'a socket supporting means at one end of the said bolt." The tubular bolt 23 permitsthe' passage. of the conductors 24 leading to'the socket terminals. The said bolt pames through the slot 15 in the standard 12, having aflattened portion 25 engaging the said slot so as to prevent turning. The head 26 of the said [bolt engages the inner surface of thecurv'edportion 13 of the standard 12. The bolt 23 also passes loosely through and carries bearing plate 27 which,

as shown, is of a channel shape, the side members of which engage'the outer-surface of the portion 13. bearingplate 27 and the parts carrying the same may be moved to any desired position with respect to the slot 15, whereupon the clamp maybe tightened, thus drawing thehead 26 of'bolt 23 against the inner surface of the standard 12, and the parts will be securely held. The standard 12 may be readily adjusted with respect to the base 10 by loosening the lower clamp and turning the said standard with respect thereto, whereupon the clamp may be again tightened. While in Fig; 2 two positions for the lam and standard respectively are shown; it is obvious that these parts maybe caused to assume a great variety of positions with respect to each other and to the base 10.

Various modifications of the device hereinbefore described will readily suggest themselves to those skilled in the art and are to be .considered as coming within the scope of my invention, which is set forth in the following claims.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

1. A lamp fixture comprising a standard having a slot therein, a bolt passing through the said slot and carrying at one end a lam socket supporting means and at its other en means for engaglng the inner surface of said standard, and clamping means comprising a member carried by said bolt and engaging the outer surface of said standard and means for causing said member to bear tightly against said standard or to Be released therefrom as desired.

2. A lamp fixture comprising a standard having a slot therein, a tubular bolt passin through said slot and having at one end thereof a lamp socket supporting means and at the other means engaging the inner, surface of the said standard, means carried by the said bolt and engaging the outer surface of said standard and means for clamping the said engaging means or releasing the same from' engagement with said standard.

A. lamp fixture comprising a standard havin a slot therein, a bolt'passing through the said slot and having at one end thereof lamp socket supporting means and at the other a head adapted to engage the inner surface of said standard, means carried by said bolt and engaging the outer surface of the said standard and means for clamping saidhead to said standard or releasing it therefrom as desired.

In a lamp fixture the combination of a standard having a slot therein, an externally threaded bplt assing through said slot and having a hea engaging the inner surface of said standard, a bearing plate loosely carried on the said bolt and engaging the outer surface of the said standard, and an internally threaded member engaging a thread on said bolt and adapted to engage the said plate to clamp the aforesaid head against the said standard. I

In a lamp fixture the combination of a standard having a slot therein, an externally threaded bolt passing through said slot and having a head engaging the inner surface of said standard, a bearing plate loosely carried on the said bolt and having a projection engaging the said slot and engaging the outer surface of the said standard, and an internally threaded member engaging the thread on said bolt and adapted to be tightened against the said plate to clamp the aforesaid head against the said standard.

6. In a lamp fixture the combination of a standard having a slot therein, an externally threaded bolt passing through said slot and havin ahead engaging the inner surface of sai standard, a bearing plate loosely carried on the said bolt and engaging the outer surface of 'the said standard, and an internally threaded winged member engaging the thread on said bolt and adapted to be tightened against the said plate to clamp the aforesaid head against the said standard.
