IMPROVEMENT IN BED-BOTTOMS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,237, dated June 26, 1871.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MOSES B. TOWSLEE, of Pewamo, in the county of Ionia and in the State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bed-Bottoms; and do hereby declare thatthe following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a bed-bottom, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure l is a plan view, and Fig. 2 a transverse section of a bedstead, showing my bedbottom.

A represents a bedstead of any desired construction. On the inner sides of its end pieces is firmly secured a series of V-shaped or triangular blocks, B B, point up, and said point made rounded. On each, or rather around each, of these blocks is placed arubber band, 0, in which, under the base of the block, the end of the bed-slat D is inserted. /The slats D l) are thus suspended from the blocks B B by means of the rubber bands 0 0. Under the center of the slats D D is a cross-bar, E, secured to the two outside slats, as shown.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combination, with a bedstead, of the blocks B B, rubber bands 0 U, and slatsD D,

with or without the crossbar E, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
