Description
The present invention is intended to replace the tamping or pressing of an electrode mass commonly used in the manufacture of electrodes for electric furnaces by the action of centrifugal force by placing this electrode mass in a heated form, which during rotation of the electrodes is rotated.
In FIG. 1 schematically shows in longitudinal section a device for carrying out the proposed method and FIG. 2 the same in terms of.
Под вли нием центробежной силы электродна масса, легко подвижна при высокой температуре, распредел етс в форме так, что более т желые составные части электродной массы (графит, антрацит,The hot electrode mass is introduced in small quantities into the metal mold I, which with the help of suitable devices through the driving pulley 3 is brought into rapid rotation around its longitudinal axis of symmetry. This form is heated externally from all sides by a stove 2 fed with fuel or electricity. Under the influence of centrifugal force, the electrode mass, easily mobile at high temperature, is distributed in the form so that the heavier components of the electrode mass (graphite, anthracite,
п.) Цифрой 4 на чертеже обозначены направл ющие ролики.coke, etc.) are located at the periphery, and lighter parts (resins) are located in the central part of the mold. At the proper temperature of the furnace inside the rotating mold, sintering of the electrode mass occurs first at the walls of the mold, then the sintering gradually spreads to the center. The voids formed in the electrode mass, due to the release of volatile parts at high temperature, are again filled with resins under the action of centrifugal force. As sintering is in progress, new and new quantities of hot electrode mass are supplied until the form is filled to the desired extent. Electrodes prepared as described in the outer parts and have a particularly dense structure that conducts electricity well. In order to avoid difficulties arising from taking the electrode out of the mold due to sticking to the walls, the mold is pre-coated with thin metal sheets from the inside, or a metal sleeve prepared by the shape of the mold is inserted into the mold. The number 4 in the drawing indicates the guide rollers.
