Abstract

A cold rolled hinge includes a double leaf element (1) for securing to a fixed frame, and a single leaf element (2) secured to a vehicle door. Each element includes a knuckle (4a and 4b) surrounding a central hinge pin 5. A portion of the knuckle part 4b is cut away so that it does not completely surround the pin (5) and provides an opening (7) for receiving a catch (6) projecting from the double leaf (1). The catch (6) abuts one end of the opening (7) when the single leaf is at a predetermined angle relative to the double leaf, and this determines the maximum opening angle of the hinge. A stay bar (3) is pivoted at one end to the double leaf element (1) and a pin (10) is provided at the other end of the stay bar (3) to locate in recesses (12), (13) provided in a slot 10 provided in a flange of the leaf element (1) (Figure 3). <IMAGE>
