Abstract

The end piece of the socket end (2), which is constructed as a sealing supporting ring (3), is connected to the socket such that it cannot be detached. A sealing ring (10) is inserted between the socket end (2) of the first steel pipe and the insertion end (1) of the second steel pipe. The seal between the steel pipes is effected by pressing the sealing ring (10) between the sealing surfaces (9) of the socket end (2) and the insertion end (1) on its sealing part (11). The sealing ring (10) is secured, by means of its retaining part (12), by the retaining collar (6) of the seal supporting ring (3) against being pushed out. A joint for steel pipes is thus created which allows steel pipes to be joined together to form a pipeline, by means of a simple and quick plug-in connection. At the same time, proven sealing elements are used. <IMAGE>
