Abstract
Description
本件出願は、TUBE FITTING WITH SEPARABLE TUBE GRIPPING RINGについての2002年2月6日付の国際特許出願第PCT/US02/03431号からの国内出願であって本件出願と同時係属中であるTUBE FITTING WITH SEPARABLE TUBE GRIPPING RINGについての2003年8月6日付の米国特許出願第 号の一部継続出願である。これら両出願は、TUBE FITTING WITH INTEGRAL NUT AND FERRULEについての2001年2月6日付の米国特許仮出願第60/266,735号およびTUBE FITTINGについての2001年10月17日付の米国特許仮出願第60/329,943号の利益を主張しており、以上のすべての出願の開示の全体が、本明細書に参考として援用される。
本発明は、広くには、パイプおよび管のための継手の技術分野に向けられている。さらに詳しくは、本発明は、管把持部材を使用するフレアレスの管継手であって、当該管把持部材が、最初は接続部材のうちの1つにつながっており、管の端部への組み付けの際に当該接続部材から分離するフレアレスの管継手に向けられている。
管継手は、管の端部を他の部材に接合または接続するために使用され、ここで他の部材とは、例えば貫通のT継手およびエルボ継手など、他の管の端部であってよく、あるいは例えばバルブなど、管の端部と流体でつながる必要がある装置でもよい。本明細書において使用されるとき、用語「管(tube)」および「配管(tubing)」は、これに限られるわけではないがパイプをも包含することを意図している。あらゆる管継手は、その管継手が満足するように設計されている圧力、温度、および振動の基準内で、2つの重要な機能を達成しなければならない。第1に、管継手は、シールの喪失または管の破裂を防止するように管の端部を把持しなければならない。第2に、管継手は主シールが漏れることがないよう維持しなければならない。管継手がこれら2つの機能を達成するという必要条件が、数十年にわたり管継手の設計における主導的因子であった。所望の把持およびシール性能の基準を満たすため、多数の要因が管継手の設計を左右するが、あらゆる管継手の設計の基本となるものは、1)素材、外径、および肉厚など、継手が協働しなければならない配管の特性、および2)意図された用途について管継手に要求される管の把持およびシールの性能レベルであろう。目的は、市場で他の設計と競合することによっていかなるコストの制約が課せられても、その範囲内で所望の管の把持およびシール機能を確実に達成する管継手を設計することである。
本発明の一態様によれば、新規な管継手の考え方において、ユーザはわずか2つの部品、すなわち継手本体および継手ナットを組み立てるだけでよい。ナットおよび本体は、両者の間の相対回転によって螺合して一体に接続されるように構成されている。ナットは、当初は一体であって継手の構成時に本体のカム面と協働する管把持部材またはフェルールを備えている。管把持部材は、ナットと一緒に機械加工することができ、あるいは例えばろう付け、溶接、またははんだ付けなどの任意の好都合なプロセスによって、ナットへと別個に取り付けてもよい。ここで説明する実施の形態においては、管把持部材がリング状の構造であり、取り付け先の部品から分離した後に、単フェルールとして機能する。この分離したフェルールが、管の外壁に向かって半径方向に圧縮されて塑性変形し、シールおよびきつい管の把持の食い込みを形成する。さらに、この分離したフェルールは、前記カム面に当接して主シールを形成する。一実施の形態においては、フェルールが、前端に先細りの外表面を備えており、前記カム面に当接しておおむね狭い線接触型のシールを形成している。一実施の形態において、フェルールは、ヒンジ動作を有し、引き締めの際に塑性変形して管を良好に把持すべく鼻部を配管壁面へと埋め込み、埋め込まれた鼻部を振動の影響から絶縁する絞りまたはコレット領域を、埋め込まれた鼻部に軸方向に隣接して有するように設計されている。ヒンジ動作は、フェルールの先細りの外表面をカム面に対しておおむね線接触の状態に保つうえでも役に立つ。継手の構成部品、とくには分離可能なフェルールは、必須ではないが好ましくは肌焼きされる。この新規な継手は、ステンレス鋼製または他の金属製の管継手としてとくに有用であるが、本発明は、特定の種類の金属に限られるわけではない。本発明の他の態様によれば、引き締めが充分であることを知らせて構成部品の過剰な締め込みを防止するため、継手に自動規準の特徴を備えることができる。
したがって、本発明の一態様によれば、管把持装置を有する管継手であって、当該管把持装置が、最初は接続部材のうちの1つと一体であるが、引き締めによって接続部材から分離して単フェルール式の継手として機能する管継手が提供される。好ましい実施の形態においては、管把持装置またはフェルールが、雌ねじ付きのナットと一体に形成され、壊れやすい薄いウェブ部によって雌ねじ付きのナットへと取り付けられており、この薄いウェブ部が、最初に雄ねじ部品のカム面に当接して押されたときに破断する。このフェルールは、分離の後に単フェルールとして、雌ねじ付の本体の急峻な角度のカム面に当接して作用する。この急峻なカム面の角度は、管把持装置の硬さが、ビッカース尺度において配管材料の硬さの少なくとも約3.3倍、好ましくは少なくとも4倍の比を有している場合、とくに好都合である。
Claims (30)
- 管の端部のための管継手であって、
該継手を管の端部へと組み付けるため、ねじ込みにて一体に接続される雌ねじ付き接続部材および雄ねじ付き接続部材
を備え、
該雌ねじ付き接続部材が、該雌ねじ付き接続部材に取り付けられた管把持装置を有しており、
該管把持装置が、該継手を引き締め状態へと組み立てる際に該雌ねじ付き部材から分離する、
管継手。 - 前記管把持装置が、前記雌ねじ付き部材からの分離の後に単フェルールとして機能する、請求項1に記載の管継手。
- 前記雄ねじ付き部材が、引き締めの際に前記管把持装置の前端と係合して該装置を前記雌ねじ付き部材から分離させる斜めのカム面を備える、請求項1に記載の管継手。
- 前記管把持装置が、薄いウェブによって前記雌ねじ付き部材へと取り付けられている、請求項3に記載の管継手。

を備え、
該雌の接続部材が、該雌の接続部材に取り付けられた管把持装置を有しており、
該管把持装置が、該継手を引き締め状態へと組み立てる際に、該雌の部材から分離する、
管継手。
