Abstract
999,198. Cine projectors. EUGEN BAUER G.m.b.H. Nov. 27, 1963 [Nov.28, 1962], No.46820/63. Heading G2E. A cine projector has coaxially mounted feed spool and take-up spool spindles 27, 17 in a common housing, one spindle being carried in a fixed part 2 of the housing to which is hinged at 6 another part 3 of the housing to which the other spindle is carried, one of the spindles being a drive spindle 17 friction coupled to the take-up spool 5 and having at the end facing the feed spool 4, an axially displaceable member which directly couples the drive spindle to the feed spool 4 during re-winding. Take-up spool 5 is carried on and pinned to a sleeve 7 wheel is mounted on, and pinned at 10 to the hollow shaft 8 rotatably mounted in a lever arm 11 pivoted at 13. Shaft 8 has a flanged disc 15 with a friction ring 14 drivingly engaging the drum 16 which is connected to the drive spindle 17 within the hollow shaft. A sleeve 19 is pinned at 20 to the other end of spindle 17 which projects from the hollow shaft 8, the sleeve having a flange 24 with apertures 23 which receive the pins 22 extending from a collar 21 slidable on sleeve 19. Collar 21 is spring-urged towards pin 20 which it engages in slot 26. The feed spool spindle 27 has at its end a displaceable clutch sleeve 31 spring-urged against pin 33 projecting from the spindle, in which position a driving connection is made through pin 35 and bore 36 with a friction disc 29 carried in a bearing bush 30 fixed to housing part 3. Feed spool 4 is pinned to disc 37 carried by spindle 27. In operation, part 3 is opened, a loaded spool is placed on spindle 27, and the film is threaded through projection part and anchored to take-up spool 5 which is driven as above when the housing is closed. The driven film rotates the spool 4 and also the spindle 27 and friction disc 29 which is braked by bush 30 to tension the film. Film tension on the take-up side is constant since the pressure of drum 16 against ring 14 depends upon the weight and the pivoted lever arm 11. To rewind, the housing is opened and collar 21 is manually released from pin 20 and rotated to shift the slot 26. The pins 22 then pass through flange 24 and enter bores 39 of feed spool 4, clutch sleeve 31 being first withdrawn to remove the braking effect of disc 29.
