[Class 48] [Also in Group XXIV] In a stationary spool type reel means for reciprocating a spool 24 are driven at a slower speed than a flyer shell 8 by epicyclic gearing 13, 16 and comprise a non- rotating, axially-sliding cup member 19 frictionally connected to the spool, a rotating, non-axially-sliding cylindrical member 12 capable of passing within the cup, axially disposed guide means 18 on the cup slidably engaging a spindle 7 for the cylinder, and a radial-projection 21 on one member engaging an inclined circumferential groove 23 on the other member. The frictional engagement between the spool and cup is regulated by a nut 30. The end of the fixed spindle 7 carries a spider 17 engaging slots 20 in the cup. When reeling-in a line guide 9 is moved to the operative position by engaging a projection 11 on the cylinder.
