Abstract

997,435. Ceilings; wall coverings. ALCOMETALLER A.B. March 7, 1962 [March 7, 1961], No. 8800/62. Heading E1V. Sound and vibration absorbing linings for ceilings, walls, &c., comprise an assembly of sheet-metal panels, A, B, C, Fig. 1, in edge-toedge detachably interlocked relationship to provide parallel longitudinal strip areas 3, 4 of perforated and imperforate sheet metal, the perforated areas being backed by sound absorbing material 5. The panel have bent up longitudinal edges 1, 7 forming interlocked nose and recess portions. Each panel is subdivided by a strengthening V-shaped corrugation 2 which with the edge 7 provides a recessed seat for the sound absorbing material 5. The relative widths of the areas 3, 4 may be varied according to the acoustic properties required. The panels may be supported by resting on angle or T-section members attached to the wall or roof members. In one example, roof brackets 24, Fig. 5 carrying bars 23 support the panels through members 21 hooked over the bars 23 and connected as at 22 to the edges 1, 7 of the panels.
