Abstract

937,756. Wall &c. panelling; joining metal sheets. ALUMINIUM-WALZWERKE SINGEN G.m.b.H. Jan. 12, 1960 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 1183/60. Classes 20 (2) and 20 (4). Panelling for covering walls, pillars &c. comprises rectangular panels 1 having interengaging overlapping edges and having rearwardly extending continuous or interrupted webs 9 parallel to the interengaging edges, and rods 10 running at right angles to these edges and interconnecting the webs to hold the panels together. The rear face of each panel, along the edge which overlies the edge of an adjacent panel, is provided with channels 5, 6 and 7, any one of which may be engaged by a rib 3 at the extremity of a rearwardly offset flange 2 along the underlying edge of the adjacent panel. In the operative position, the rods 10 frictionally engage holes in the webs 10 and press against the rear faces of the flanges 2. Slots 8 are defined between adjacent panels when the rib 3 engages the channels 5 or 6, such slots being adapted to receive either trimming strips or strips or plates carrying hooks. When the rib 3 engages a channel 7, no slots are defined between the two panels. The panelling is held in position by brackets 11 and 14 secured to angle irons 15 attached to the wall &c., the brackets having holes to receive the rods 10. Comer pieces 12 are secured to the brackets 14 by means of spring clips 13. At the end of a series of panels, a panel 18 may be provided having rearwardly offset flanges on its two opposite edges.
