Abstract

995,051. Pneumatic conveyers. INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAISE. June 21, 1963. [Aug. 11, 1962], No. 24722/63. Heading B8A. In pneumatic apparatus for continuously discharging pulverulent &c. material from a pressurized hopper 1 to which material is fed in batches from a hopper 3 via a lock chamber 2, the pressure at the base of the hopper 1 is maintained at a constant value so that a steady flow of material is obtained during the filling and emptying stages of the lock chamber 2. The pressure is measured by a gauge 15 controlling electro-valves 18, 19 in air supply and exhaust lines 22, 23 for the hopper 1 and lock chamber 2. Electro-valves 20, 21 operating automatically with the feed valves 7a, 7b, are arranged so that the pressure is adjusted at the top of the hopper 1 when the valve 7b is closed and at top of the lock chamber 2 when the valve 7b is open and valve 7a closed during discharge of material from the lock chamber 2.
