Abstract

987,896. Ladders for ships. B. C. MAJOR. Aug. 20, 1963 [Aug. 21, 1962], No. 31981/62. Heading A6L. [Also in Division B8] A pilot at sea is picked up on a ladder 11 hauled up the ship's side by a winch 22 on a transportable frame 23. The ladder is flexible and carries rollers 32 engaging the ship's side and a handgrip runs down the centre of the ladder. The top and bottom steps are extended in horizontal spreaders restricting twisting of the ladder. The frame 23 rests on the bulwarks 27 and has a ladder 24 leading down to the deck the whole apparatus being moved about the deck to bring it into and out of use on wheels 20.
