973,945. Mowing machines. A.J. VOGELENZANG. June 4, 1963 [June 4, 1962], No. 22172/63. Heading A1F. A mowing machine comprises a plurality of interchangeable identical mower units rigidly interconnected along adjacent edges, each unit including at least one rotary-scythe blade. In Fig. 1, each unit 1 is hexagonal and has downwardly-turned side-flanges 2 which can be bolted to those of a neighbouring unit. The flanges are longitudinally-grooved so that they may accommodate a stiffening rod 10 common to the adjacent unit. Each unit (Fig. 2) carries a bearing for a vertical shaft 5 which terminates upwardly in a pulley 7 and downwardly in a blade 6. The pulleys are entrained by belts 11, 12 with the interposition of jockeypulleys 13, 14. Each unit has its own caster-wheel 15. In modifications, the units are square or curvilinear in outline.
