Abstract
970,527. Girdles. SARONG Inc. Aug. 13, 1963 [Nov. 13, 1962], No. 31868/63. Heading A3V. To prevent curling and buckling at the waist a girdle is provided with a circumferentially elastic woven collar whose vertically disposed threads have a fineness in the range of 200 to 700 denier and whose upper edge is bifurcated or divided into two separate lips each of which is integrally interwoven with the body of the collar. Girdle collar 24 (Figs. 3 and 4) has at the top a pair of lips 32, 33 (which may be of different widths) integrally woven with the central body of the collar. A second lower pair of lips 34, 35 may also be provided which enfold the top edge of the girdle proper. In one embodiment lips 33, 34 are part of a first layer of fabric and lips 32, 35 are part of a second layer of fabric the two layers being woven in such a manner as to cross over above the lower pair of lips. The collar is woven with horizontally extending rubber yarn or thread 37. The vertical threads may be of cotton, wool, rayon, nylon or "dacron" (Trade Mark). The collar may be used with any suitable type of girdle.
