979, 727. Microscopes; lens mounts. G. A. D. GORDON. May 28, 1963 [May 30, 1962], No. 20875/62. Heading G2J. In a microscope the lens mounting 1 of magnetic material which contains the objective A and eyepiece B is carried by a support 7 so that it may vibrate along the optical axis thus enabling a specimen to be seen in 3D by persistance of vision. The vibrations are induced by passing A.C. and D.C. currents respectively through the coils 11, 12 which surround the lens mount 1 and its support 7. The frequency of the vibrations may be varied between 1 and 16 c.p.s. and the amplitude of the vibrations may be varied also.
