Abstract
977,480. Thermal switches. SATCHWELL CONTROLS Ltd. April 18, 1963 [April 18, 1962], No. 14965/62. Heading H2B. An anticipatory heating resistor 15 is clamped in contact with a snap-acting bimetallic switchactuating member 1 operative in response to an increase in ambient temperature. Member 1 is a differentially-stressed E-shaped sheet with its outer limbs 2, 4 adjustably mounted in clamping blocks 6, 7 and its centre limb 3 carrying the movable contact 14. Resistor 15 has a low mass to wattage ratio and its heating value is only 2‹ to 3‹ F. greater than the thermostat differential, which differential has a range of 10‹ to 15‹ F. Alternatively, the bimetallic member 1 may be a pre-stressed snap-acting disc.
