In a conveyer bridge constructed in the form of an enclosed box girder which has an endless belt conveyer 1 and an associated gangway 2 with headroom a, the dead space above the conveyer is minimized by forming the crosssection of the girder as an equilateral triangle with a vertical side 3 adjacent the gangway 2. The corners may be truncated by surfaces 9, 10, 11. Spilt material from the belt 1 slides down into a trough 7 whence it is removed by a chain conveyer 8.
