Abstract

965,479. Furniture joints. J. TOSH. April 1, 1963 [April 19, 1962], No. 15350/62. Heading A4W. In a joint for a furniture leg, the leg assembly includes two tubuler members 1, 2 of the square cross-section, the open end of member 1 providing a socket and member 2 having a circular cross-section spigot 4 secured thereto, which spigot 4 is divided into two portions 5, 6, the portion 5 having two screw-threaded apertures 7 spaced to correspond with holes 3 in socket member 1. Spigot 4 is inserted in the socket and screws 8 are then engaged in apertures 7 to force portions 5 and 6 apart. In a modification Fig. 7 the spigot 10 is secured by rivets or screws. In a further modification the parts are secured by a wood screw passing through them into a wooden member.
