Class 52(2) A leg 5 or similar component for use in the construction of furniture, has a tubular insert 6 which is threaded internally to provide one part of a screw fixing, the insert being held rigid in the leg by a pin 9 engaging transverse apertures 10 in the insert 6 and the leg 5 and the thread in the insert being formed by an internally threaded nut 8 retained within the insert 6.
