Abstract
953,168. Belt fasteners. MASTABAR MINING EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. July 8, 1960 [Oct. 8, 1959], No. 34072/59. Heading F2Q. In a wire hook belt fastener, wherein a hook 14 comprises, on one limb, at least two points 16, 17 and, on the other limb, a corresponding number of abutments, such as 18, 15, over which the points, after being passed through a belt, are bent away from the belt end, the limbs comprise at least two thicknesses of wire which are contiguous at least along the point-carrying limb, there being one point for each thickness of wire. As shown, several hooks are formed as a unit and each hook comprises one length of wire pointed by grinding at both ends to form a two-pointed hook having a loop which provides one abutment 18, a connecting bar 15 to which the hooks are welded providing the other abutment. Alternative hooks comprise single wire lengths with differing loop forms, Figs. 2, 3, 4 (not shown), and separate wire lengths having an additional bar welded thereto to provide an abutment for point 16, Fig. 5 (not shown).
