Abstract

959,865. Valves. DUKES & BRIGGS ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 16, 1963 [June 26, 1962], No. 24575/62. Heading F2V. A ball valve comprises a central housing 1 with through aperture 3, spigoted unions 5 to fit into the opposite ends of the aperture, an apertured ball 11 rotatable between the spigots of the unions with its spherical surface adjacent complemental surfaces on the spiguts, and an O-ring 9 held in each complemental surface so as to be compressed against the ball, with means 14 extending through the housing for rotation of the ball. The means 14 consists of a spindle fitted with O-ring seals 15, a head 13 to engage a recess in the ball and a handle 16, motor or other actuating mechanism. A scale and pointer indicate the position of the ball.
