Abstract
957,557. Pneumatic actuation of switches. BENDIX CORPORATION. Oct. 22, 1962, No. 39916/62. Heading H2B. A pressure responsive switching device comprises two chambers divided by a diaphragm 20, Fig. 4, in which only chamber 28 is in communication with the variable pressure, a push rod 32 attached to the diaphragm and levers 38, 40, carrying counterweights 44, 50 and contacts 42, 48 supported either side of the rod 32. The levers 38, 40 pivot about flexible members 46, 52 insulated from the base 10, as the diaphragm moves. The contacts 42 and 48 engage resiliently mounted switch contacts 54, 56 if the pressure in the chamber 28 is low or high, respectively. The clearance between the contacts may be adjusted by moving contacts 54, 56 by levers extending outside the base 10. The contact 56 mounted on a leaf spring member 72 is prevented from following the contact 48 by a stationary contact 73, Fig. 5 (not shown), which engages the contact 56. The base 10 is earthed and is provided with terminals 86, 90 which are connected through terminals 92, 94 to the flexible members 46, 52.
