956,838. Outlets to chimneys; gas fires. R. & A. MAIN Ltd. Nov. 27, 1962, No. 44906/62. Heading F4W. In a gas fire having a heat exchanger 25, 26, 27, 28, 30 leading to a chimney (not shown), radiants 10 arranged opposite opening 22 in a main casing, a burner 17, and inlet and outlet openings 23 and 9 respectively for air to be heated; there are provided one or more conduits 31 leading to a low pressure zone created by the pull of the chimney from a locality at or adjacent the upper end of opening 22 whereby the stream of products of combustion and secondary air leaving the radiants and flowing nearest said opening 22 passes through the conduits 31 and the products of combustion &c. flowing farthest from the opening 22 pass through the heat exchanger. The modifications illustrated in Figs. 3 to 20 (not shown) show various arrangements of the heat exchanger and conduits.
