Abstract

1,041,223. Air heating apparatus. OATLEY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. March 4, 1963 [March 2, 1962], No. 8294/62. Heading F4S. In an incandescent gas fire 4, behind the radiants of which is an air heater 6, air is passed through the heater 6 from an outside supply 24 by a power-driven fan 26 and then directed into ducting 7 leading to dampered warm air outlets 27, 28, Fig. 1 (not shown), which may be disposed in other rooms 9, 10. The ducting 7 may be at one side of, or in, the combustion products flue 8. Air drawn from the room 5 into the fire casing 17 is heated by passing it around a convector heat exchanger 18, above the radiants and heated by combustion products passing round an internal baffle 19, and is then returned to the room through a grille 23. Fins 21 extending from the flue outlet pipe 20 further heat the warm air leaving the heater 6 in the ducting 7. The heater 6 may be divided by a vertical corrugated partition. The fan 26 may be located below the air heater as in Fig. 1, outside the room 5 as in Fig. 2, or in the warm air ducting 7.
