Abstract

954,127. Spinning &c. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 8, 1963 [March 16,1962], No. 10228/62. Headings DID and DIF. Suction apparatus for collecting lint liberated from the nip of the front rollers of a drafting gear (Fig. 1 not shown) of a spinning frame, comprises a suction header 22 mounted underneath the lower front rollers 8 of the drafting gear so that there is a suction orifice 23 under the path of travel of each thread, and caps 27 mounted relative to the upper front rollers 9, each cap extending downwardly over their respective orifice 23 and having a thread exit 28. Each cap, moulded from synthetic resin material-for example nylon-has arms 37 which snap fit on bosses 38 of the respective freely rotatable roller 9 leaving an air inlet gap 31. The inner surface of each front wall 29 is convex while the interval width of the cap is constant near the yarn exit 28 and increases near the roller nip (Fig. 3 not shown). The path of travel of each thread from an exit 28 may be enclosed by a suction tube 44 (Fig. 5) having a threading slot 45 and joined to the header 22. Felt covered wooden cleaver rollers, are provided for rollers 8, 9. The suction orifices also act as end-catchers, with each cap pivotable about a roller 9 for piercing broken threads.
