939,205. Coiling strand material. E. J. CRUM. April 11, 1962, No. 13983/62. Class 120 (3). [Also in Groups XXII and XXV] A machine for producing a coreless coil 108 of strand material, comprises a stationary drum 14 around which the strand material 29 is wound by a revolving arm 24a, and a peeling device 31 for forcing the resulting coils off the drum and depositing them on a pallet 71, the pallet being lowered automatically when the height of the coil interrupts a light beam between cell units 99, 100. The downward movement of the pallet 71 is stopped when it reaches a level at which the height of the coil 108 no longer interrupts a light beam between a pair of lower cell units 109, 110. The cell units 99, 100 serve to open a valve 98 permitting fluid to escape from a cylinder 84 and so lower a piston-rod 87 coupled by a chain 92 to arms 72, 73 on which the pallet 71 rests.
