Abstract

939,119. Bridges. BETEILIGUNGSUND PATENTVERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. April 19, 1962 [April 22, 1961], No. 15373/62. Class 20 (1). A bridge comprises reinforced concrete or steel carriageway plates 1 connected to junction plates 4 which extend inwardly from walls 2 of a girder 2, 3. The girder is brazed longitudinally and transversely by members 11, 12 and 6, 7 respectively, the latter being riveted or bolted at 8 to similar members on adjacent girders. The plates 4 are of increased width at regions subjected to greatest bending moments e.g. where the girder rests on a support and the plates of adjacent girders are connected to each other by fish plates 10. Fig. 5 shows an alternative embodiment in which adjacent girders are secured together by means of resilient collars 15 which allow some longitudinal movement and pivotal movement about a horizontal transverse axis between them.
