A coat hanger has a single hook B slidable between twin hooks A and secured to arms B<SP>1</SP> the ends of which can slide into sleeves C, the hanger being placed with hook B above a clothes line and hooks A beneath so that the weight of a garment on the hanger causes the hooks to come together and grip the line.
