Abstract
937,632. Retractable fountain pens. W. ENGLER. Feb. 28, 1962 [Feb. 28, 1961], No. 7886/62. Class 146 (3). The feed bar and inner sleeve 2 of a retractable fountain pen are biased in the retracted position, as shown, by a spring 36 positioned between the inner and outer sleeves, 2 and 1, respectively. A spring-loaded arrester lever 41, with a nose-piece 44, holds the pen in the retracted and projected positions by cooperating with recesses 45 and 51, respectively. A valve plug 14, Fig. 1a, biased in the closed position by a spring-loaded lever 21, shuts off the ink conduit 10 in the feed bar, when the pen is in the retracted position. On projection, one arm 25 of the lever 21, rides in an internal groove 29 in the outer sleeve 1, and co-operates with a cam surface 30, thereby opening the valve. Removing a screw cap 39, Fig. 1b gives access to a collapsible sac reservoir.
