Abstract
923,287. Scissors &c. RICHARD BROS. & SONS Ltd., and W. MULLER. June 9, 1961 [Sept. 29, 1960], No. 33490/60. Class 30. In scissors &c. having thin sheet metal cutting blades 10 attached to backing members 23, the blades have slits 19 forming tongues 18 which are bent to press against each other to provide lateral pressure between the blades. The tongues 18 are apertured at 16 for a pivot pin 27 which adjustably engages a threaded aperture 28 in one of the backing members and the tongues 20 may be bent to press against the associated backing member. The blades are " twisted " at 17 and rivets, integral with the backing members, pass through apertures 26 in the blades, the rivets nearer to the pivot being unpeened so that the blades can be pressed away from the backing members by tongues 20. In modifictions, a single slit intersects the pivot hole or one of the slit blades is replaced by a blade having a hollow projection.
