929,092. Ventilating; air-filtering. C. F. GYSI. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 6, 1960; Sept. 29, 1960], Nos. 28412/60 and 33414/60. Class 137. A window air-filter comprises a rectangular telescopic holder having one or more apertured central sections carrying a filter medium and two box-like end members. As shown, Fig. 1, the holder comprises a central section A which fits within two end sections B, C having rebates 23, 24 enabling them to be fitted in the grooves of the frame of a sash window, Fig. 3. The interior of the holder may be filled with material such as cotton wool or gauze and the material may be scented or sterilized. Alternatively, the filter medium may comprise gauze contained in open-sided cartons or a sheet having an adhesive border. In the latter case, the central portion of the holder may be solid and have the filter material stuck on to the outside. Other forms of holder are described. For example, the central section 45 may have raindeflecting louvres 46, Fig. 7, or cheese-grater perforations on its outer side and a large aperture with a snap-engaging removable cover (not shown) on its inner side, the end member 51 having a louvre-clearing enlargement 52. The holder may have a number of inter-engaging central sections.
