Abstract

935,195. Chambers for medical treatment. J. BUNYAN. April 19, 1962 [Jan. 24, 1961], No. 2791/61. Class 81 (2). A device for isolating a patient comprises a base 1 supporting an upstanding framework 2-6 enclosed by a flexible, impermeable material 7 to form a housing having two opposed sides, two opposed ends and a roof; there being one or more flaps or displaceable panels 9a, 9b, 9c giving access to the interior and pressure exerting means providing an internal pressure to assist in sealing the enclosure and providing a suitable atmosphere inside. The pressure exerting means is a blower or fan incorporating a filter device which introduces air through the inlet 13. The panels 9a &c. are tensioned by springs which attach them to the longitudinal rod 6 (Fig. 3, not shown). They are normally held down by eyeholes 11 to studs 12 on the base except when the panel is raised as at 9a of Fig. 2. An air lock device 19 may be used in conjunction with the main framework as in Fig. 4. In alternative embodiments the panels 9 may be arranged as roller blinds or may all be combined in a single piece with slits for access.
