In a C.T.C. or like machine, the extended high-speed roller shaft is connected by a belt drive to a pivoted pulley 5 whose pivot also carries a pinion 6 meshing with a gear-wheel 12 on a second pivot which carries a pulley 13 connected by a belt drive to the extended lowspeed roller shaft. As shown, the high-speed roller 1 has a driven pulley 15 at the end remote from the belt drive.
