Abstract

A seat cushion or mattress is produced by foaming a plastic such as a polyurethane in a mould and incorporating in the moulding one or more other resilient materials having a greater resistance to deformation such as natural or synthetic rubber or another polyurethane foam. A slab is attached to the lid of a mould and the plastic foam introduced through a hole or placed in the mould first. Alternatively the mould has a layer of foam plastic formed in the base and a more resilient foam is applied to fill the mould.
