A lifesaving or rescue apparatus comprising a rod having a ring member fixed thereto and extending therefrom at one end and a float or floats mounted thereon adjacent the ring member, the other end of the rod being free. Marine lifesaving apparatus comprises a tapering rod formed on a single length or separate connectable parts having a ring B at one end and a float or floats D attached thereto adjacent the ring.
