Abstract
908,606. Endless conveyers. HOUILLERES DU BASSIN DU NORD ET DU PAS-DE-CALAIS. Sept. 8, 1960 [Sept. 10, 1959; June 18, 1960], No. 30972/60. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XII] An endless conveyer in a furnace for the treatment of material, particularly coal briquettes, with hot gases (see Group XII) comprises chains 28a with a lattice 27 formed from wire wound round pins 30 passing through the chain links. Side members 28 overlap in the opposite direction to the travel of the conveyer and are held in place by the pins 30, the ends of which are bent and wound round the preceding pins. The conveyer, which is supported by end roller 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 1, and longitudinal members within the furnace, is driven by a series of identical hydraulic jacks 36, Fig. 6, co-operating with thrust bars 29 welded to the underside of the chains 28a. The jacks 36 are mounted on a carriage 33, reciprocated by a main hydraulic jack 35. A jack 38 near the opposite end of the lower run takes up the slack produced by the guide 36. The jack 35 has a cross-section equal to the sum of the cross-sections of the jacks 36, and they are fed with hydraulic fluid from the same source, so that the stress on the conveyer is divided between a number of thrust bars 29, and variations in spacing of the bars 29 is compensated.
