Abstract

286,828. Campbell, T. M. Jan. 5, 1927. Endless-chain conveyers with linked carriers; moving platforms; guiding chains.-Chain conveyers, in which a centrally-guided chain furnished with alternate vertical and horizontal link pivots, for example as described in Specification 224,689, [Class 24, Chains &c.], are constructed with platform load-carrying members connected centrally to the chain, and the latter is furnished with guide rollers on vertical pivots arranged to lie between the upper and lower surfaces of the link as viewed in elevation, the rollers running in a central guideway of inclined, spiral, or other shape. Figs. 1 and 2 show one construction in which the skeleton-frame load-carrying slats 7b are guided by angle irons 5d at the ends and are connected at the centre to the vertical roller-carrying link pins 2a, of the chain, the rollers 3 being guided in the channeled member 4. The guides 4 and 5<d> may be curved to follow any desired path. The chain is constructed of two links of which one part is secured rigidly to the platform members. Reference is made also to the provision of rollers at the ends of the intervening horizontal links of the chain co-operating with another channel guide to control the vertical movements of the conveyer, thus facilitating movement in inclined as well as in horizontal planes.
