In a plug-and-socket connector slotted ring contacts 7 ... 10 coaxially arranged one behind the other in resilient material 1 fit within slotted rings 11 ... 14 similarly arranged in resilient material 4. In the engaged position of the connector conical faces on the material 1 and material 4 respectively abut at 15 to form a seal which is reinforced by spring-loaded leather seals 16, 17, 18 on a steel casing 3 surrounding the material 1, which seals engage a steel casing 6 surrounding the material 4.
